Bob's Burgers! I always think of the Art Crawl episode during Art Fair now.

But now it's Badge Crawl time!

Stuck on the 3rd Bob's Burgers clue! I see her hat, tried it beginning with "b" with and without the color and "hat." Any help out there please?

Super and mega comment masted badges are not showing as earned on my player page. LOVE the new lego badges!!

Went overboard the past week with the badges. Took the past few days as a much needed break. Now I am ready again. Here we go!

I am having trouble with the first code of the "Edda-mology" badge. I know what day of the week I am looking for, but I couldn't find the correct code. Any hints? Thanks!

Just to make this clear, if we want to earn the "Pollcat" badge, we have to email/tweet the results of the election BEFORE August 4th, right?

Hey @sharmas, for the Pollcat badge, you are actually going to the polls ON August 4th when they close at 8 p.m. You'll speak to the election workers there to get the results of the day from that precinct to help gather early results, before they are reviewed and officially released. You do need to email/text/tweet the results that you gathered before the end of the day August 4th, so your window is basically between 8:15 p.m. and midnight on August 4th. Hope that helps!

@Sara W, Thanks for making that clear. The badge also mentioned that we have to submit the reports "early" and I wasn't quite sure what that meant. Now I understand what it means. Thanks again!

To all the gamer's out there,
I am working on three badges right now and I am hoping some of you out there could hepl me with some clues to help me find the right codewords.

1) Portmunally Awesome the one with the transistor radio on it. I need help finding the very last codeword

2) Farthest South I need help finding the very first codeword

3) Our Lier's I need help finding the third codeword

Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@lmd3577, for #1, you appear to already know what to search for as you used the word in your question. I can't help on the others, I haven't done them yet.

Sorry, I just re-read your question, I misunderstood your question. That one was tough for me to, until I noticed my searches kept kinda sorta referencing another word that starts with a b. I then saw someone gave a hint to look for a b word and I thought, could that be it? And it was. I wouldn't necessarily think it's another word for since, and it didn't come up as an actual synonym for since in my searches. But, the word did kinda sort come up and it is commonly used in the English language. It's so common, you probably never realized its two words put together. And the two words you need to search for, basically sound just like the word. The hint didn't help me either and I still don't see how the hint was helpful. Just bxxxxxx you can, doesn't mean you should.

Pollcat question, will the poll workers know That we're SG or just think we're an average wanna know now person?

Pollcat questioners: I collected results from the primary last year. We didn't even have to talk to the poll workers. I say "we" because there were other people hanging around to collect results (mostly affiliated with various candidates). The poll workers post the tape on the wall once they're done with all their tasks, and then we all stood around and wrote down the results we were interested in. At my location (two precincts in Ward 5), it was 10 or 15 minutes after the polls closed.

Hats off to the writer of the puns in the codes for the Bob's Burgers badge. They are aMAIZEing (comes on a cornbread bun).

In the second code in eddamolagy I think the word is B*******r but it didn't work

Got a badge!!! Got the Sleuthful Youth badge!!! Now I have all the Gutsy Girls!!!

In reply to by Katharina Geschner

I need help with the third code of the "sleuthful youth" badge. The name of the jazz opera that they are referring to is Blue Mon**y but I looked through both of the CDs that appear when i searched that and neither had the code, so I searched for the friends Geo**e and S*m. but got nothing there either, please help!!

I am having trouble with the second code of the "Ghosts of the Mississippi" badge. I searched up the type of ship I thought it was but I didn't see any code. Any hints? Thanks!

@betsywil, That is exactly what I did, except when I searched it in the catalog, I didn't get any 2015 code. I think it is a S*****g ship. Is this the correct ship that I'm looking for?

Thanks @SBNB!
But now, I am having trouble finding the third code for the "Ghosts of Mississippi" badge. I don't get what the hint is trying to have me search. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@sharmas

Because the fort doesn't exist anymore, the only wikipedia result that comes up in English when you google it isn't about the fort but about a certain state park where the fort once stood. Is there something about a "rocher" in this park's name? (Rocher is French, and one of its English translations is...?)

Thank you, AADL, for these great badges! My 12-year-old son and I look forward to badge drops on Friday to see what parts of town we'll be exploring the next day during our code hunting.

Thank you, AADL, for including a Power Art badge at the corner of W. Liberty and S. First street -- opposite Blank Slate Creamery. After tracking down codes all day, my 12-year-old and I both thought it would be wise to rehydrate in the form of ice cream. This was our first time at Blank Slate, but it will not be our last. The ice cream was wonderful, and the interior of the building is much improved since my last visit there when it was an Obama campaign office in 2008.

People looking for the "Selfie PowerArt" badge, do yourself a favor and head across the street to Blank Slate Creamery for a break.

Thanks for all the badges! The 8yr old in the house loves the bear badges best! I like discovering the Power Art & etymology ones.

Hi Gamers,
We need help with the third code in the Norse Etymology badge. Found some options in dictionaries, but not sure what we're actually looking for! Thanks!

The Pollcat Badge is a great idea! Until I worked as an election inspector, I didn't even know that each polling place posted the tallies on the wall at the end of the night. It's exciting. For a more major election, you'll see reporters and campaign workers waiting for the results. I would recommend going around 8:30 so you don't have to wait too long. But, go before nine as the tallies are not left on the walls after the poll workers leave.

I wish people could get points for voting. Even though this is a small primary, it is important. Every vote does actually count.

I was in Downtown today and thought I would do some PowerArt! badges, so I stopped by W. Liberty to go to the one across from Blank Slate. While I was looking North, I entered multiple codes but none of them worked. Is there a specific place to look for the second and fifth word?

To all the summer gamers out there I am working on four badges right now and I am haveing a great deal of trouble finding the codewords for them. I am hoping some of you out there could help me out with some more clues.

1) Portmuenally awesome the one with the Trasnsitor radio on it I am having truoblefinding the very last codeword.

2) Out Liers: I am having trouble finding the third codeword

3) Farthest south: I am having trouble finding the very first codeword

4) and the Nancy Drew one: I am having trouble finding the second codeword

Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

4) You need to find the book where that specific event happened. If you search the second part of the second sentence in google starting with "Nancy" and ending with "tower", you will easily find the name of the book where the second code is located in the catalog.

@Lmd3577

2) Do a google search for the name of the piece of land that the guy supposedly found. The wikipedia page about the expedition that comes up in the search will have the name of the cape. The name of the cape is sufficient to find the code. You don't need the other thing they tell you to find.

The last clue for Funky Fresh Fossiles makes no sense to me. First it says to look for her name in the catalog, referring to the name of the triceratops, then it says I'm looking for a male actor in a rockin comedy, and the hint says it helps if I know his full name. When I look up the name of the triceratops, I'm not finding the code. So what am I supposed to be looking for? The name of the triceratops or some actors name, to which I have no clue what they're referring to.

@AprilCDB

You want the name of the triceratops which is also an actor's last name. I was overwhelmed by the number of results when I searched for only the last name (which is also the dino's name) in the catalog. So it helps if you do a google search for the dino's name and the word "actor", find the actor's full name, and then do a search for the actor's full name in the catalog. And I think the code is in a comedy DVD.

*Edit - Maybe it's a comedy, but it doesn't look like one to me (nor is it listed as primarily a comedy in the catalog). The hint helped me find the code quicker, but it's in the top 10 anyway.

No, I just found it. The actors name did not help me, as it only gave me one result, which was not correct. I ended up searching just her name and going through all 48 results. Holy Mother of Summer Game, was THAT hard. It was near the bottom, having to search nearly every item in the results, it's more than 30 into the results with just her name. Thanks for your help.

Edit: I just figured why I only got one result when I searched the actors name, somehow I repeatedly (I tried searching multiple times and kept getting the same result) transposed two letters in his first name. When spelled correctly, the same title comes up in a different format within the top 10 results, the correct item. Aye crumamaba!

Woohoo! Looking forward to more LEGO at the library! And getting badges. The LEGO contest is a must-see!

went back and got the West banner code again- did I read that the banners moved around a bit?

6 library banners? I have already gotten 3 and I can spot the clues for the other two, but I'm stumped by the clue talking about 'Library Lane'.

Library Lane is the street/parking lot on the North side of the Downtown Branch . There are two banners downtown- one on the front, one on the side.

Bob's Burgers Badge

I can't find the last code. I've searched for B----- and H--------. What am I doing wrong?

What about giving some very special SG player a big point bonus for creating a Google map with pins for all the "walk around downtown and find a code in the window" locations? I would love to plan my evening walk to get my Fitbit steps around that map!!

@eileenth

that sounds like a great project, we think you should go for it! and we <em>have</em> been known to hand out point bonuses to summer gamers who take initiative and do great things that help out their fellow players!

-andrew

I'm excited about the Bob's Burgers badge. That show is awesome. Also, the Discworld badge last week was awesome.

Love the bobs burgers badge! Just got my friend really into it and we've been binge watching on Netflix all week

When I went Downtown to get the "Selfie PowerArt" badge, I wasn't sure which second and fifth word I should use for the code. I tried many different varieties, but none of them worked. Is there an exact place to look?

@sharmas
If you reread the clue for the badge, you'll see that it tells you to face North. Just start reading on the top left and take the second and fifth words you see. I don't think it's giving too much away to tell you that the words start with "m" and "z". I just did it this morning. The weather this week sure makes walking around town for codes much more enjoyable!

Yes, but I cannot get the code for the for the Mars Rover Curiousity. I have tried . I have read enough about them to learn that one of them says he "studied sex, drugs, and rock and roll in high school" and been impressed that he ended up at NASA in spite or possibly because of that. However, I have NOT gotten the code. Can anyone help?

@ eileenth - you're making it too hard. Add LEGO to your search and you should find the LEGO page about the project. It lists what you are looking for right in the description of the item. Please be careful not to reveal clues on the blog :) Thanks for playing!

I'm off to see the pollsters
The wonderful pollsters of A2
Because because because becaaaauuuuuse
Because of the wonderful points I'll get (and work they do)
I'm off to see the pollsters
The wonderful pollsters of A2

It was fun to see fellow summer gamers at the polling place. I sent the results in by text msg, but .... How does this translate into a badge?

I would say at least two were there for whoever was running in your ward. Beyond, that, probably summer gamers. I assumed at first, then one asked me if I was there for Kunselman, I said no, and educated him about SG. He was there for Ackerman, the other person I assume was there for Kunselman.

I had intended to take my son, but after he got in trouble at school today, he had to follow strict bedtime and could not go because it was last bedtime. I was kinda bummed about that.

My precinct had already been claimed, so I went to 1-3 at Community High and I was the only one there to collect results. Perhaps the candidates knew the turnout there would be so low (only 17! I was shocked!) so they didn't bother sending anyone?

By the way, code arrived this morning. I suspect CivCity folks were too busy crunching numbers and charts to send them last night.

Is there any way for gamers to earn the County My Lego badge if they can't make it to the County Clerk's office between 8:30 and 5?

@Fisherwoman

At the moment there are no plans for any Old News badges, as far as I know, but it's very likely that Old News tie-ins will return in future Summer Games! So glad to hear you loved them!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on three badges right now and I need some help finding their code words,

1) Edda-Mology: I am having trouble finding the first codeword

2) Out Liers: I am having trouble finding the fourth codeword

3) Portmanally Awesome: I am having trouble finding the very last codeword

Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

The first clue is "find the (English) day of the week that comes after Odin's day and before Freyja's day in the catalog."

So, think about the days of the week in English, and figure out what Odin's day is, and what Freyja's day is, and then what day of the week that is (in English), and see if that helps. Try saying them out loud.

Beyond my usual lack of mobility, I've also managed to injure my back recently, so that means very few of the event and around town codes and badges for me. On the other hand, it means more time spent reading and picking up points through the other badges and the catalog activities.

So I really appreciate all the variety. It's keeping me from going too stir-crazy!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on 5 badges and I am having a great deal of trouble finding the code words for them. I am hoping dome of you gamer's out there can help me with some clues to help me find the code words.

1)Portmanteautally Awesome: Last clue word need to find

2) Edda-mology: Third code word need to find

3) Out Liers: Last code word need to find

4) Farest South: First code word need to find

5) Ghosts of Mississsippi: Second codeword Need to find

Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

@ Lmd3577

1)Portmanteautally Awesome: Last clue word need to find
Hint: Google: synonym for "since", my search does not actually produce the word where you think it would be. I looked at Thesaurus.com and the word is in the upper left corner under the word since and after the word prep. Starts with the letter b

2) Edda-mology: Third code word need to find
Hint: Google: Old Norse word for "trouble" or "affliction", my search doesn't even require me to go into a website, you're looking for an a word, the first there letters of the Old Norse word are the same as the word you need to search

Sorry, can't help with the rest. I haven't done them yet

Re banners -- I would like to suggest that library staff remember that not all game players have 20/20 vision or can get close to the banners. The size that the code itself is written in is fairly small unless your vision is quite good.

@willow, I agree with you. I was one street away from the Downtown library but I couldn't read the banner codes because they were written really small. I suggest that the codes be written bigger so that people one street away can read it.

Once a week I go through my 3 year old sons stack of library books and ask him, return or keep? He knows we have to at some point return them to the library. Lately, he says to keep them all. He loves his books so much he doesn't want to return them. I've had to start telling him if he wants new ones, he has to choose some to go back.

Hi Summer Gamers
I need help on the the.....

-1st Code of funky fresh fossils
-2nd Code of Avatar the last air badge
-6th Code of Avatar the last air badge

Can anybody help?
Thanks Fritzy

Fritzy,

For the fossils one, if you google, "13 feet tall 42 feet long skeleton South Dakota", a Wikipedia link with the dinosaur's common name will come up. Open it and what you are looking for is in the first sentence of the entry.

I'll have to go back and figure out how I found the Avatar codes.

Good luck!

@ Katharina Geschner

-2nd Code of Avatar the last air badge
hint: ask Google when will the longest solar eclipse happen
-6th Code of Avatar the last air badge
hint: I had a lot of trouble with this one too, look up the meaning of equid, then think of two of these types of animal that makes up the hybrid we know today (starts with an m). Then search for that animal in the catalog. You're looking for a children's book where that animal has the same name as a main character in Beauty and the Beast (hence the clue that refers to Beauty and the Beast).

To all the summer gamer's out there I need help finding 5 code words

1)Portmantelleautally Awesome: Last one

2)Edda-Mology: third one

3) Out Liers: Last one

4) Farest South: First one

5) Ghosts of Mississippi: Second one

Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

3) Use wikipedia. Go to the page for the man in question. Go to the section about the mountain he supposedly climbed. Find a link to a "tiny peak" and click on it. The elevation is given in feet. Convert it to meters and search that number in the catalog.

For the Matthaei Garden Ramble, was anyone able to get the second bonus code? The area seemed to be closed off when I was there.

Sooo many badges, so little time left. I didn't get started on the badge part of the game right away, and now I have all the harder ones remaining, and the completionist gamer urge is nagging me like crazy!

Anybody else get that?

@fevversEris, totally. I got behind and it was driving me crazy. I'm mostly caught up now, I'm only behind on two categories now and I think I can get those done before game ends.

The staff Lego display is amazing. Thanks for including it as a SG badge, too!

I really enjoyed the Staff Lego Exhibit in the downtown library, especially the famous architecture pieces. :)

I can't run around too much to find clues.
If you had only 1 afternoon- where would you go for Summer Game fun, and why?
Not just the locations, of course, I don't want to cheat- what badges would you complete?

@Judeyblu. We enjoyed the canoe art and picture art ones the most. Very creative use of old canoes. They are pretty close in distance as well. Most only have 1 code to find so it's not very time consuming. The parks are all great too, they just take more time. The Matthaei Botanicle Garden was really fun. We spent a few hours there, exploring inside and outside. We got to eat some fresh fruits and veggies that are grown there as well. All in all it was fantastic to learn so much more about Ann Arbor.

I agree, the River Art was cool. They can all be accessed pretty quickly and easily if you get to the right spots (we were not at the right entrance for Bandamere.

If you map out all the ones Downtown, you can get probably all of the ones Downtown in an afternoon, but again, you would need to plan to ensure you're doing it the most efficient way.

The museum was pretty interesting, I did not know it was there and rather enjoyed it. I think it took less than an hour to find all the codes there.

Ugh, can anyone help me with the last clue of the "Beary Sugary Formula" badge? I've searched the name (J**** A. M*******) in the catalog waaay too many times (First and last name with and without the middle initial, just his last name, just books under his last name, author of books under his last name) and all I can find is a code on a DVD that's for another badge. Can anyone help me see what I'm doing wrong??

@VickyB77 - the book you are looking for got temporarily 'hidden' from the catalog because we no longer own a copy anymore, but it's been put back. So if you search again you should find the book and the gamecode. You can also submit a 'contact us' request and we can send the gamecode along to you. Thanks for playing!
- erin

The Lego theme was a great idea for the Summer Game! It would have been fun to on the library staff to help make all those fantastic lego creations! It seemed like the idea of Legos had everyone's attention and interest - great idea!
