All About the All-New Summer Game Shop!

Summer Game 2018 is going strong with more players, more points, and more things to do than ever! And we've reached that point in the summer where Inquiring Minds want to know: WHERE IS THE SUMMER GAME SHOP?!
Well, it's coming very soon, with this year's new items appearing this Friday Night, July 20th! There is a possibility that we will need to hold off on placing orders over the weekend if we run into any software "surprises", but hopefully that won't be an issue.
BUT, that's not what we're here to talk about. We've completely changed the way that the Summer Game Shop works to get more prizes into the hands of more players, and hopefully take (most) of the stress out of the Summer Game Shopping Season! We don't want getting free premia (thanks to our Amazing Friends of the AADL) to be a time of anxiety and woe, and we think this set of changes, while a big change from how the shop has worked up to now, will make for a better, and fairer experience for everyone! SO! Read on for full details!

LUCKY YOU! It's Badge Drop #5!

Some say Friday the 13th is a superstitious day, but we don't believe it. After all, it's been a very lucky four weeks of Summer Game so far and the point total is ASTRONOMICAL! With seven stellar days a week to review, log, rate, and travel around your town, there's plenty of good luck (and good points) to be had--and would you believe it? FRIDAY THE 13TH MAY BE YOUR LUCKIEST DAY OF ALL!
Because not only is it BADGE DROP DAY, but this week we'll be dropping a SPECTACULAR series of badges that are all for our SUMMER GAME SPECTACULAR! This Saturday, July 14th from 1-4pm at Veterans Memorial Park (350 N Maple Rd)there will be points and games galore! Play lawn games! See the circus! Get your face painted! Chow down at the delicious food trucks and more!

Incoming: BIG POINTS WEEKEND! Book Sales, Board Meetings and MORE

Summer Game is going strong, and this weekend just might be THE MOST POINTS-LADEN WEEKEND EVER! (Especially if you include Monday.) So much so that we just had to drop a few badges EARLY just to give you an extra HEADS UP!
Of course you know all about Saturday's Impending SUMMER GAME SPECTACULAR, where literally THOUSANDS of points will be on offer for those who experience the event in fullness, so don't miss that on Saturday at Vets Park, starting at 1 PM... but did you know that the FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY are also having a book sale this weekend? NOW YOU DO! And if you check out the book sale at the Downtown Library, Saturday from 10 to 4, and Sunday from 1 to 4, you can get ANOTHER very special badge that is only earnable this weekend!
But that's not all... extend your REVELRY into Monday Night for this summer's last opportunity to earn the ABOVE BOARD badge, available only to those who make a PUBLIC COMMENT to the AADL Board of Trustees! This badge is worth 1500 points total, and with the long-awaited return of the SUMMER GAME SHOP just around the corner on July 20th, you won't want to pass up these points... to say NOTHING of the innate power of CIVIC ENGAGEMENT!

Badge Drop #4: Make Like a Lumberjack and GET LOGGING

Wood you believe we're already a quarter of the way through the game? It's NUTS! It seems like we just embarked on Summer Game 2018 but here we are at Badge Drop #4. And we know you must be a shade curious about what we have in store for you this time around. Well...
This week features the all-new LOG MASTER series! With the Log Master series, you get a badge and a bump for every 10 days you log something.
You HAVE been visiting your My Player page every day and logging your reading, watching, and listening (and getting your 50 daily bonus points), right? NO?? IT'S OKAY, no need to start pining for earlier days of summer and wishing you'd started logging sooner: you've still got time to log enough days to make it to SUPREME LOG MASTER status! We know you can do it! You just need to find your log-a-rhythm and then you can really get your grove on and start scoring!!
And, as a bonus this week, CATALOG RATINGS HAVE MADE THEIR TRIUMPHANT RETURN!! Time for all players to branch out from writing reviews and get to rating all of those things you loved (or things you only kinda liked). Stumped on what to rate? Try rooting through your checkout history!

Zingerman's Summer of Food Tasting Fun! Bonus Badges on a Monday!

If you love tasty food and playing the game, well, this is the kick-off of a seriously delicious Summer Game badge series! First, you want to find the deli bear we have hidden in the FRONT window of Zingerman's Deli on Detroit St. - find the bear and his code and you will earn the Zingerman's Deli Bear Where badge! He's hanging out in a small, clear box. The installation is in their window and viewable 24/7, but you may as well go during their open hours (7 days a week 7am-10PM) because then you can TASTE some delicious foods and earn the Zingerman's Deli Tasting Passport badge! Ask any Zingerman's staff member for a Passport and begin your journey!
More gamecodes will be coming to other Zingerman's business partners to hunt for this Friday's badge drop too! Then, if you're in town on Tuesday, July 3 attend the Zingerman's Summer Game Food Tasting event from 2-4PM at the Downtown Library. Attendees will get to try different foods, do fun activities and more - all ages!

Badge Drop #2: Too Many To Believe

It's the second badge drop but it might already be too much! As we are writing this post, you have already earned 17,374,510 points in this year's Summer Game! And we've only been in the second week of Summer Game 2018 for couple of hours! There've been over 1.1 MILLION points scored JUST TODAY! If that doesn't make you do a double-take, we don't know what will!
You might be tempted to think that a couple of players just decided to double their efforts or grew another pair of hands, but it isn't just that! 4,337 players have scored points so far this year. That's not double digits, that DOUBLE double digits! Again, let me say it a second time, THE SECOND WEEK OF SUMMER GAME 2018 HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN.

Summer Game 2018: Go Time!

It's time, IT'S TIME! Some of you have waited 9 1/2 months for this and some of you have no idea what the rest of us are so EXCITED about! Well, I'll tell you...
SUMMER GAME 2018 HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!
And this year's Summer Game has all of the great things you remember from previous games like CODES and BADGES and POINTS and BANNERS and EVENTS and SCAVENGER HUNTS and ALL THAT JAZZ. How should YOU go about GETTING STARTED?
-Visit every AADL location and collect the copious codes! Westgate, Malletts Creek, Pittsfield, and Traverwood all have 10 codes hidden around the building, Downtown has 15 codes PLUS every building has a BIG code on the banner outside (all banners are going up as we speak)!
-Head to the AADL catalog and get reviewing everything you can think of!
-Read books, watch movies, listen to music, anything at all! Just log the item you enjoyed (or didn't enjoy, in which case come to the Library, we'd be happy to recommend something) and get your points once per day!
-Start getting started by starting with our GETTING STARTED series!
