Out Liars

Difficulty: ????
Part of the SummerGame2015 Game

So here's a little secret about exploration: if you've mounted a major expedition and you just can't make it to the goal you had set, there's always another option: just lie about it. The North Pole, for some reason, held a great attraction in the early 20th century for liars. Let's start with the guy who was maybe the least liar-y, Richard E. Byrd. Byrd was the first to fly over the North Pole, accomlishing this in 1926. Or claiming to, anyway. First find the name he gave to the plane he (didn't) fly there in the catalog.
