Tool belt looks sweet, and I'm just a couple hundred points short. I'm following over 100 people who haven't followed me back, so I figure it's time to re-post my friend code (plus some relatives'). If I don't have your code yet, if you include it in your nickname I promise I'll add you back within a couple days!

Friday is the best day of the week. Picked up my coffee today, and was so pleased to see it was whole bean (rather than pre-ground). I like all the prizes, but this one is my favorite.

I snagged some coffee and some tea this time! It was tense though. Around 4pm, my internet stopped loading the library page. Most others were fine, but for whatever reason, the library pages would not load. So I had a frantic chat with Comcast to try to fix the situation. "No, I don't have a cord to hook the computer up to the modem. Oh wait, I found one. Uh-oh, actually there's nowhere to hook it into the Mac. Yes, I know the speed test says that the internet is perfect, but I still can't load the library website! Fine, I'll wait half an hour while you do something from your end." Fortunately, I was able to load it on my phone without the wifi. Not ideal, but it worked well enough to get me some delicious beverages! And as I'm sure you were sitting on the edge of your seat through the epic retelling of my Comcast crisis, you'll be happy to know that whatever they did has fixed my issue with the library pages not loading. For now, at least.

@SBNB - Wow, sounds like quite the episode! I'm glad it finally started working again - fingers crossed it continues to do so. ;)

So glad the coffee is back, though I am sad it's not from Roo's Roast. Sweetwater is pretty great though. I really want their to be a musical badge about Hair, that would be awesome.
BOOK447

Seems to be a glitch with the fourth clue of Lackey Stack. I believe I have the right item, and there's a game code but it doesn't say anything underneath it (like "from SummerGame201X"). When you try to submit it, it says the code isn't recognized.

Wow did the coffe sell out fast today and I see the tea is almost gone too! Hot items! (Pun intended).

Went out tonight, yes in the rain, and scored lots of explorer points. Son and I grabbed the bus to get the code inside the bus and take a free ride, hubby met us in the car a few stops later because we actually wanted the car since we had so many places to go. I had to explain to my son that not every one is fortunate enough to have a car and some people just prefer using the bus to get around. He was complaining how we had to wait for the bus and why don't we just take the car? Oh, there's a code? Ok, I'll wait. But then once on he really liked pulling the stop cord and told Daddy all about pulling the rope to stop the bus.

The site line codes were easy to find once I had the right parks. And yes, my son commented on how the one park had a playground and a (unique feature of the park)! Luckily, he was only interested in the playground and didn't ask to go to the unique feature of the park.

And tonight's explorer adventure we saw a 3 legged dog!

Not sure if people are aware of this, but comments anywhere on any post on the AADL website gets you the points and count towards badges, not just the summer game posts. So, for example each of the Ann Arbor Stories has a comment section. If you comment on the story it'll count towards your points and badges, people are commenting on these to give reviews. Or, there was recently an update on West Branch, if you comment there it'll count for summer game. Any comment on any post counts towards summer game. So branch out and look at the other updates and info AADL is putting out to keep us informed and educated.

Having issues finding the comic book in the third clue for All At Sea, when searching "four". Hints?

@Xris

I had issues with that too. As it turns out, the code is near the top of the search results but it's not a comic book.

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on the Juipiter's Story badge and I need help finding the second code word. I have googled up what I think is the anwser to no avail. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me with some more clues as to where I find the second code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

Look up the meaning to the word "p-------". It should be "the _____ point to the planet" or something like that. Search for that word in the catalog. 7 letters.

Well, was hoping to knock out the Arb explorer badge today, but that was not meant to be. I am determined to do the Quad explorer badge tomorrow and pick up the code at the art museum. Next weekend is out for explorer badges for us, air show on Saturday, which will wipe us out for a lazy day Sunday. We've got a crazy busy week this week and now I don't know when we'll get the Arb done. No chance of getting it done in a evening this week. Maybe we'll all have to play hookie from preschool and work for a day to grab that one before the game ends.

I don't need a bag for lunch
(I use a paper bag-
I like the rustle and crunch)
But, Badge-Writer's a wag
and his pitch packs a punch!

Parking at the Arb is horrific. Last Sunday they were redoing the parking lot so it was not available. Apparently that was a one day event -- of course! ;) the construction near there is a mess too.

@lmd3577 I tried 3 or 4 synonyms and the top 10 for each before I found it. Patience is important for that code.

So I picked up my order which included a couple of the Sweetwaters Pomegranate Green Tea, and I'm a bit leery. The shop description indicates that it is decaffeinated, but there is nothing on the tin indicating this.

I know green tea has less caffeine than black tea, but regular green tea still has significantly more caffeine than a decaf version. And if this has the usual amount of caffeine in it, I won't be able to drink it. :(

Can any staff clarify this, please?

@Fevvers

I didn't see anything about it being decaffeinated in the online description, and if it doesn't say it on the box, I would assume it has the regular amount of caffeine. But I'm not an official library source, so who knows.

re: Old Explorer Codes

First of all, I LOVE the Explorer Badges, and I LOVE that you can do previous years' badges during the summer game.

I did both the Arb ones at once, but there's one code I can't get from the 2013 Arb badge because it's no longer there. It's the first clue of the badge, a sign at the Geddes entrance that says "Celebrate ___". That sign is no longer there (unless I'm missing something). I've tried doing google image searches of the Geddes entrance and just googling combinations of "Arb" "Geddes" "2013" and "Celebrate", to no avail. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I could figure out that code?

WOKE734

ps: Sorry for the double-posts. I posted this on the old thread by accident, and I'm going to try to delete that one.

I assumed the tea has some caffiine in it, I bet you could call sweetwaters and ask them about the tea and they could tell you if it does or not

@nemiller

I think there were clues about this one in a previous year's post. I was able to get that code without actually going to the Arb. It's a word that starts with "P" that describes bees.

Arb construction is a big mess. But on Saturday the parking lot was open. No problems. I even missed the rain.
Got myself a shiny new badger...uh,badge, too.
TBB

Ugh, this is embarrassing, but I'm going to have to ask. For the Kelp badge, which is only a level ONE, I cannot find the last code. They even say exactly what to search for, which I did. None of the few things that come up have a code. When I searched using the hint, it was no better.

Very abashedly, I plead for guidance from one of you brilliant badge owners.

Thanks!
- works4us

@lmworks - Try searching for the singular of the two-word phrase, not the plural. The code should be in the third item that comes up in the catalog.

Hope this helps!

From the tea description:

"So, here at Summer Game Central, we've heard legends. Legends of SUMMER GAMERS who somehow manage to ESCHEW 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione. While we struggle to comprehend, at AADL we embrace all lifestyles, and if you're trying to live a 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione-free life, well, WE'RE HERE FOR YOU.

To that end, we've partnered with our new friends at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea to bring you not just Coffee, but also TEA! And in consideration of you 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione ESCHEWERS, we've chosen their amazing Pomegranate Sencha Green Tea, charmingly decorated with pink rose petals, and packaged in an ADORABLE and USEFUL reusable tin! Sure, there's still a little 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione lurking therein, but not enough to call it 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione-ATED."

That's referring to caffeine.

So if there's not enough caffeine in it to call it "caffeinated" then shouldn't it be marked decaffeinated?

(Which I know is not the same as "caffeine-free" because stuff can be labelled "decaf" while still having a certain low amount of caffeine in it.)

@lmworks - No problem! I've been tripped up by that type of thing multiple occasions in the past, so I know the feeling. xD

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on the "Lakey Stack" badge and I need help finding the very first code word. I have googled up the anwser and I pluged it into the catalouge and I got thousands to search through. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me out with some more clues as to where I can find the first code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577 - I'd help, but I'm afraid I'm actually stuck on that same clue as of now.
I'll let you know if I do figure it out, though, and good luck to the both of us! ;)

I guessed the exact wording of the first Kelp Yourself code before I found it.

I'm more Summer Game than human, now.

The heat has broken. What a good for Park Explorer badges! Ps- riding the bus to Gallup!

Fevvers: you said, "So if there's not enough caffeine in it to call it "caffeinated" then shouldn't it be marked decaffeinated?" -- hmm, milk doesn't have caffeine but it is neither caffeinated nor decaffeinated!

I think "decaf" products are when most of the caffeine is removed from something that had caffeine in the first place, like coffee and tea.

To all the summer gamer's out there.
I am working on the Lakey Stack badge and I need help finding the very 1st code word. I have googled up the anwser and I have plugged it into the caltlouge and I get thousands of possible anwsers to search through. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me with some more clues as to where I can find the 1st code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@lmd3577 make sure you put all three main characters into the catalogue search. You should only get 10 results. You can sift through them all or read the clue carefully for a keyword that will point you to the exact item.

@lbootzin - Thank you!! I was also stuck on that code, and your hint got me through it.
@Lmd3577 - If you're still having trouble on this, make sure you're searching the first names of the three characters in question. I don't know whether you made the same mistake as me, I misinterpreted the clue and was instead searching for the term that describes them all (M******), which was why I kept hitting the same dead end.
Good luck!

Thank you, Judeyblu, for telling us to look for a code in the August Ann Arbor Observer!

I then looked in the July Observer.
FYI, the July issue does not contain a game code. Instead, it tells readers how to start playing.

- HERE949
(not a new code, but I always like making new friends)

For anyone who still needs to complete the Gallup Park badge, the complete loop is closed for construction (aka the other Michigan season!), but you can complete the badge as indicated in the clues. Happy hunting!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on the Lakey Stack badge and I need help finding the 3rd code word. I have googled up what I think is the correct anwser to no avial. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help by giving me some more clues as to where I can find the third code word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

Strange that "podcast" is not a choice in the drop down menu on the player page, especially with the addition of the Ann Arbor Stories.

@Judeyblu was it the City Guide Observer or just a regular edition of the Obsever? I got City Guide Obsever today and just went through it and didn't see a code. I don't think I got an August regular edition of the Obsever.

@Lmd3577 - If you have the correct character (C**** R****?), you want to search for his title alone, not include his name itself. I don't know whether you're making the same mistake as I did, but that tripped me up for a short time until I managed to figure out what I was actually supposed to be looking for.
If you're searching for the correct term, the code should be in the fifth item that comes up in your search.

Hope this helps! :)

- FAVORITE496

Kelp Yourself - Or Kelp me please!

When I search for the seahorse-like creatures in the catalog, I only find a code from 2015. I've tried a variety of things, but it must be a simple error I'm making. can anyone KELP Me?

@sara - Try searching for the singular of the species in question. You should get only two search results, one of which has the code you're looking for.

Hope this helps!

Park667

@ Spandanakilari - Thanks for sharing all those codes! And thank you to everyone with those codes for having added me already! :)

@ willow - Yes, your decaf definition is correct. But I'm harping on the tea because I found the description misleading.

At the beginning, the description says, "While we struggle to comprehend, at AADL we embrace all lifestyles, and if you're trying to live a 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione-free life, well, WE'RE HERE FOR YOU."

Then later adds, "Sure, there's still a little 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione lurking therein, but not enough to call it 1,3,7-Trimethylpurine-2,6-dione-ATED."

But without any markings on the packaging itself to indicate the caffeine content in any way... Well, I just find this weird and unhelpful.

Maybe there was some poor communication or different description or varying definition of "caffeinated" from Sweetwaters.

And I also got it as a gift for someone who doesn't drink regular caffeinated tea, so I'm having second thoughts about giving it to her. :(

I'm having trouble with the fourth code on the "For What It's Worth" badge from the last drop. Help anyone?
PAPER999

@Fevvers, I'm not much of a caffeine consumer myself. I drink one cup of green tea each morning and I don't consume any other caffiine. I'm going to say if there is caffine in the SG tea, it's pretty minimal. I had my first cup of that tea on Sunday and by Monday, I was developing a caffeine withdraw headache (even with the minimal amount that I consume). The headache would not go away until I consumed my usual amount of caffeine, so I'm gonna guess there's not much in this tea. Now, I don't know that for certain, I'm just going on the experience I had.

I'm impressed with this elaborate hoax AADL has perpetuated -making me look at millions of unmarked buses for a "code." Ha, ha, ha. Good one AADL!

To all the summer gamer's out there,
I am working on the "Watching the Watchers" badge and I need help finding the 1st code word. I have googled up what I think is the anwser and I plugged it into the catalouge and I get hundreds of anwses to search through. I am hoping that some of you gamer's out there can help me with some more clues as to where I can find the 1st code word.
Thanks so much for the help

I can't believe there are only a few more weeks left of the game, how sad. It's been a lot of fun, and the prizes have been quite cool. Viva la summer games!
-BOOK447

@lmd3577

If you are searching the right movie title then the code is in the first five catalog items.

If you aren't searching the right movie title (and it sounds like you are not), try Googling director last name + the name of the landmark and you'll see the answer in the first three results.

Has anyone else encountered trouble when trying to find the bus stop code for West branch? I drove by the other day and saw the sign on the pole, but couldn't stop to get it. Today I went there and I believe it is gone. Has it been moved? (By the way, the bus that was stopped at that bus stop had the code on the side of it, in case you are wondering where to find a bus with a code.)

-HERE949

I've been trying to find the 4th code of the Kelp Yourself Badge which I can't seem to find. I know I'm looking for R**t of the kelp. Is there a specific name I should search up?

<strong>@Justin Shim</strong>

The <em>root-like structure</em> has a specific name. You need to search that name in the catalog.

I finished all the badges (minus some date specific ones). Waiting eagerly for the next badge drop.

Phew. I think I got all the badges and codes so far that I can get from home - except the higher review badges. There's no way I'll be able to do 500 reviews, let alone 1000.

When I write reviews, I think, "Okay, this doesn't have to be very long, I just want to say these particular things..." And then it's often multiple paragraphs later and my fingers are cramping. Not every review I do seems to wind up relatively long, but a lot do.

I hope some people find them useful, at least!

I just got my 400th friend!... but there's 50 people I'm following that aren't following me (for those 50 people please add my code KNEW476 and PERFECT966, the codes are in my NickNames) and 115 people following me that I don't have their code for (if you add your code in your NickName I'll follow you!).

I'm also closing in on my 100th comment! :)

Pokemon Bonus Code

Not sure how to ask for help without giving away clues, but....I think I have the correct names, yet code is not recognized. Does the middle name start with an A?

I like the suggestion of having comment sections for individual badges, or at least for badge sets.

My wish list also includes comment space on the shop items. I've seen more than one person (I think) ask about the size of the Positively Dotty Lunch Bag, and while maybe that could be answered by emailing the staff directly, stuff like that and player answers and other review comments could be easily found that way.

There seem to be more and more comments on the Summer Game posts every year. Which is good because that means more people are playing and/or those who already were have higher levels of engagement, but it is not easy to follow threads.

When people reply to particular comments, we can use our browser's "find on page" function if responders use the original poster's name. But that's not a perfect solution, because the same player may write a number of posts on different topics, and because the high amount of comments spill onto multiple pages.

I really have no idea how difficult or time-consuming any of this could be, and I'm definitely not making any demands! The Summer Game is great, and adds to my deep investment in the AADL. :)

<b>@ sara - Pokemon Bonus Clue</b>

I think you are on the wrong track with an "A". Each clue has a misspelled or variant word in it. Google/web search those words to check the names of each pokemon.

There was an obit in the Ann Arbor News yesterday about a young man who recently passed away. With the kind of work I do, I found out about his passing earlier this week and was working on something at work to help the family. I needed to find his obit today for work so I Googled his name to find it and found a picture of this young man when he was two in AADL Old News when the young man was at Top of the Park and his picture made the Ann Arbor News. I passed the link on to a coworker who will be working closely with his family over the next few weeks. When I saw it, I thought "you know, I bet his family doesn't know this is out there and it would bring a smile to their faces to see and remember that time during the difficult days they have ahead of them". I bring this up here, because of when the SG had us searching Old News and while I never really use it for anything myself, I found it heartwarming to Google this young man's name and find this old picture of him. Thanks AADL.

What am I doing wrong for the last clue of Watching the Watchers? " Search for his name and the object he is interacting with in this cameo to find a decidedly non-Hitch cd." okay, what name? I'm not finding a name for his cameo character and I've got the thing he's doing but I'm not getting the right item to come up.

edit: never mind, I just reread the clue for the millionth time and figured out what I was doing wrong.

I really like the amount of suggestions that people are putting to continuously improve the Summer Game. I second the requests for putting a comments section per badge category and for shop items.

@AprilCDB

I don't think it means the character's name. If I remember correctly, it was the name of the real person.

@Fevvers

I have four of the five...I think. S, b, c, s are the first lrtters. I just can't figure out what im missing. I dont know Pokemon at all. And, i dont see any other strange words.

At this point we could all use a different lunch bag for every day of the week! Thanks summer game shop!!!

@keebs23

Thanks! I still don't have it, but at least I know where I'm going wrong.

<strong>@keebs23</strong>

LOL - that's what went through my head when I was working on answering that question too!!

<strong>@Fevvers</strong>

Thanks for making your reviews long enough to be useful! :) It's so much nicer to see those types than the one word or one sentence types.

<strong>@sara</strong>

Also, with the Pokemon bonus, don't forget to look in the very first clue as well. One of my friends had all the ones from the rest of the clues, but he missed the one for the very first clue so he kept being told that the "code is not recognized".

I hope that helps!

@ValerieL

Thanks! Got the bonus. Even with all the names in the clues, it was still difficult for me as I know almost nothing about Polemon other than it makes people walk around town staring at their cell phones.

<strong>@sara</strong>

I'm glad that helped. I don't know much about Pokemon either. I managed to find a list of characters, so I went through all the clues with that list to find all the answers. :)

@valerieL that's what I did too for Pokemon. A couple words jumped out, but a couple were also pretty normal and the list was super useful.

<b>@ValerieL</b>

Thanks for the encouraging feedback on my reviews. That makes me really happy to hear!

I do write some that are just 2-3 sentences, but I try to mention specifics about the items that might give someone insight or context. :)

<strong>@Fevvers</strong>

Two or three sentences can provide plenty of good information for a review. :) It's the ones that are only one word or a sentence like "This book was great." that are not particularly helpful. :)
