Comments

I don't know what I look forward to more on Fridays, the new badges or the great descriptions!

I don't even know what the badge is for yet, but just seeing Ferris Bueller makes me smile.
After being away a fair bit this summer I'm finally caught up on all the catalog badges up until today, so I'm glad to see a new batch. Thanks AADL staff, keep them coming!

@ Fisherwoman if you google "1998" and "digital toy" a picture of what you're looking for comes up. Poke around some more and you should find what you're looking for.
- erin

try doing a google search on a toy that was egg shaped.

I am having truoble on two badges I hope you can help me out on them.

I am having trouble finding the very last code of the Portpetumally bdge with the portable raio on it
And I am doing the Plum Loco badge and I am having trouble finding the third codeword for this badge.

I hope I helped you out and thnks for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

For the last code of Portmanteautally Awesome, you need to think of a word that means "for the reason that" or "due to the fact that." A word that would complete this sentence: I love the library _____ it is the best thing ever. Once you figure out the word, search for its origin. I used dictionary.com.

Good morning. I'm not sure I understand the clue (mixing together) for the 2nd part of the POWER UP badge. I know it's referring to P*K*M*N P***** M*******. So, I wiki-paged it (not a video game person) and found the colors " R and G w/ B" and tried searching that way. Nothing. = (. Then, "R G" then R B" and finally "G B". Would someone please tell me if I'm totally off-base???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@Lmd3577

Regarding the 3rd clue for PLUM LOCO:

Google "NOAA chart that includes Plymouth Harbor." Choose the 1st .pdf file that pops up. At the very beginning of the file, you'll see the 3 harbors: Plymouth, Kingston, and ______. Then, enter this word in the AADL.COM catalog. Voila --- your game code will be there. Hope this helps. = )

@mcreader, I think you skipped over the code because one of the color pairs that you mentioned created the correct color for this code. The correct color is in this sentence, "Then, " R G" then R B" and finally "G B."

The last code for the "If Baloo Only Knew" badge is displaying.

My son found that code but is not getting the badge -- will this self correct?

Regarding the multi-review badges: I have noticed a fair number of not just one word reviews, but one character reviews as of late. Is there not a minimum number of characters required? There are some players who write a large number of identical or nearly identical very short reviews, e.g. "Loved it!", and this is a bit unimpressive. Worse yet is the reviews, including some of the "reviews" most recently published, that consist only of a random string of characters.

Amazing animals badge

Is the third code missing? I found the book in the catalog that matches the picture on the badge, but no code.

To all the gamers out there
I am working on two badges right now and I am having a great deal of trouble with finding the codewords for the m.
1) I am working on the Marching band one ane I am having a great deal of trouble getting to the correct anwser I need to plug into the codeword space. I have looked up several years for the bothe the football and marching band part ane when I go to plug in the possible anwser it says code not regonzied. So I am hoping some of you gamers out there could help me out find the correct years so I can get the right anwser.

2) Folklore badge I am having trouble finding the third codeword

Thank you for the help
Lmd 3577

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for bringing back the picnic blanket. Hooray! Bring back the umbrella and my world just might be complete...

For the third clue in the Out Of Play badge, it says to search the word, but actually the word itself is the code.

I am having trouble figuring out what the third clue of the "Bueller? Bueller?" badge is trying to have me search. Any hints? Thanks!

Edit- I just had to play around with the clue by switching a few words around.

Wow! These badges look amazing! THANKS FOR CREATING! And thank you for the new items.

I am having difficulties finding the last code of the "Room Service" badge. Any suggestions? Thanks!

To all the gamers out there,
I need help figuring out two badges and yestredays download of the day.

1) I am working on the badge about Marching bands and I need help figuring out the number needed to anwser the codeword for the very first clue. I have tried adding together several years and I keep getting the anwser code not regonized for the anwser.

2) I am also working on the Folklore badge with the spider on it and I am having trouble finding the third codeword.

3) and lastely i am having trouble finding yesterdays download of the day which was July 24th. I have tried every possible anwser I acan think of and I have yet to find the download.

Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

Hey @Lmd3577, did you find Folklore code #3? I found it by searching for the three-word animal character referenced in the clue.

But now I'm having trouble with the fourth code in the folklore badge. There are two books that match the description exactly - one of them even has the publication year referenced in the hint, but neither one has a code. So then I tried broader categories and narrowed it down with publication year. Still no luck. What am I doing wrong??

Thank you, @sharmas! I actually had the right book within the AADL catalog, but it had no code. Turns out I overlooked the part that says "enter the name of the tree as your code." D'oh! But your clue at least confirmed that I was on the right track. :^)

Happy for the outdoor picnic blanket! That's going to be super useful with all these summer concerts

To all the summer gamers out there,
I am working on the Marching band badge and I am having a great deal of trouble finding the year of the very first marching bad so I can anwser the very first codeword. I have found the year for the very first college football game but I still need the year of the marching band. I am hoping some of you gamers can help me because I have looked up so many options ans I keep getting the statement code not regonized.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

I have no idea where I found the year for the first marching band so I'll tell you that the specific year is in the 1840s. If you have the date of the first football game, it shouldn't take more than 10 more tries to get the final number that is the code.

I forgot to ask this question to the AADL staff at the Downtown library, but does the Downtown library have a banner code?

@sharmas, i've read here in the discussions that they will put up the banner for downtown once entrance-area construction is done. I have a vague memory that it might already be hanging somewhere else right now - that is, one branch has 2 banners up - but I could be wrong about that!

@camelsamba, That's what I thought, but I've been to all the libraries and none of them have 2 banner codes. Also, I remember reading at the beginning of July that the banner code for Downtown will be hung up once the construction at the main entrance is finished.

To all the gamers out there,
I am working on the port badge with the radio on it and I am having a great deal of trouble finding the very first clue. I am wondering if some of you gamers have some more clues to help me out with finding the clue word.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd357 - I wonder if you're having the same problem I was at first. I was on the right track, but I searched a two word name in the catalog and it needed to be one name, no space. What you're looking for has 7 letters (xxxxxxx), but it can also be written as two words, with 4 and 3 letters. (xxxx xxx). If you're close then I might have just helped you. If not, this must be most confusing attempt at a clue ever.

Urban Legends Badge

I know the food four- eyes was making, but can't find the code. I did find many books about that food. What am I doing wrong?

We are hoping to have the BANNERS hung downtown this week - the on going construction to the entrance (mainly new concrete pouring) has not allowed access for the banners to be hung. We will be sure to post it here or in a badge drop when they are up.
- erin

@SBNB

Thank you. I was looking for the correct food- although using an unfamiliar computer. When I put quotes around the words, I finally got the two items. Lesson learned.

To all the gamers out there,
I am working on two badges right now and I need help with finding a couple codewords.

1) I am working on the badge Portmanteautally Awesome and I need help finding the very first codeword.

2) I am also working on the Urban Legends badge and I alos need help finding the first codeword for that badge.

Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

I'm stuck on the last clue fir the Portmanteautally Awesom badge! Any help would be appreciated and I would be so grankfull (grate and thank "full")!!

@sarai-koster, Look for a synonym of "since" that starts with a "b." Then figure out which two words combined will give you that word and search them in the catalog.

Need.... a.....cube....thing....... :)

The picnic blanket looks pretty awesome as well!!

For some reason, I am having difficulties finding the first code of the "Bedrock N' Roll" badge. Any hints? Thanks!

@sharmas

His occupation is listed in his wikipedia page under "biography". You want the dinosaur part of the job (the first word), but it needs to be the whole name of the dinosaur. The code is in one of the first results.

In reply to by JY 2005

Hi! I'm trying to find out about the folded over roll. When I put in the answer I'm absolutely sure is right, I get no code. Anyone else know about this? P***** H****? Correct? nothing.

SORRY!UPDATE: I got it...it was WAAAAYYYYY down there. kind of a tedious search.

To all the summer gamers out there who also do the download of the day
I am having trouble finding todays download and which is July 28th. I have tried every combination of what I think todays download is to no avail so I am hoping someone could give me another clue to help me out.
Thanks so much for the help

Still quite confused about Avatar: The Last AirBadge, the hint makes no sense. It points to beauty and the beast, and also notes that the character is "equid." I received a hint from another player suggesting that I should be looking for a female, popular character from beauty and the beast. However, none of the characters have 'equid' relations. I had two false leads, one of which being the fact that the previous clue involves tea, which made me think of a certain talking teapot, although she isn't a beast, I thought I had it. I was let down again by Gast** who is both a beauty and a beast, although not female nor an equid. I am beyond lost, please help!

You are actually looking for a relative closely related to a horse and the name of the animal has only four short letters and it starts with the letter M---.
Hope this helps
Lmd3577

Could you ahelp me out with a coulple badges I am working on?
I am looking for the very first codewords that are found in the Burst of times badge and portable radio badge I am having a hard time finding both
Thanks so much for the help

@Lmd3577

For the Burst of the Times first code, go to the wikipedia page for the canyon listed in the clue. Click on the name of the mountains that the canyon is in. Then click on the section "Highest Peaks". Search the highest peak in the catalog.

I don't know which badge you mean with "portable radio badge".

@Fisherwoman, Just like the hint says, the title of the CD that you are looking for is the opposite of "Thanks Thanks You." Once you go to the Wiki page of the movie, find the songs that were in the movie. The name of the song has three words in it.

To all the summer gamers out there,
I am working on three badges and I need helping codewords for them.

1) Portumisually badge with the portable radio on the badge.
I need help finding the very first codeword for that one.

2) the burst of times badge I need help finding the very last codeword

3) and the Sugar Rush one I need help finding the very last codeword also

Thanks for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

1) If you search the important words in the last sentence of the clue (which really is most of the sentence) on Google, the answer will be in the Top 5 results.

2) The Wiki page for the St. Francis Dam will give you the disaster site number. (Look on the right)

3) The Wiki page for the Great Molasses Flood will help you find the people they blamed. It's under the section "Aftermath."

Hope this helps!

How many badge drops might be left this year? How many do they usually do?

Also, for those who have played before, when do they usually stop adding new prizes? I don't want to spend points if there are loads of things waiting.

@klaw197 I think they will do one badge drop a week until the end of the game.

They do release new items up until the last week or so. Usually they release the best stuff last. What I do is watch the items that I really want, and if the numbers are dwindling, I order them. Otherwise, I watch and wait!

In reply to by klaw197

Hello players! ATTENTION the DOWNTOWN BANNERS have been INSTALLED! Come on by and get your codes! Thanks for playing!

To all the summer gamers out there,
I am working on two badges and I am having a great deal of trouble finding the codewords for them.

1) Portmanteautally Awesome: The very last codeword ia having trouble finding

2) Plum Loco: I am having trouble finding the second codeword for that one.

Thanks so much for the help

PICNIC BLANKETS! Yes, that deserves all-caps. I got one of the polka dot ones a couple years ago and it's gotten a lot of use and come in really handy. Not juat for outside - when there's a tornado warning and you need to get into the basement and want something nice to flop on, there it is!

To all the summer gamers out there,
I am still working on the Portumally awesome badge with the transister radio on it and I am still haveing a great deal of trouble finding the very last codeword for the badge. I ahve done several searches to no avail. I am hoping that some of you may have clues to help me out.
Thanks so much for the help
Lmd3577

@Lmd3577

Do you know what word the badge is referring to? (It starts with a B and has seven letters.) In the catalog, you need to search two words: B- C----. If you know the seven letter word that starts with B and has a similar meaning to "since", then go to dictionary.com, look up the word, scroll down until you see the map, and you'll see the answer right under the map. It's underlined.

People of Ann Arbor, the picnic blanket ROCKS. The handle and a flap with a zippered pouch are part of the blanket itself (as long as you manage to fold it correctly), and the underside of the blanket is a vinyl, waterproof layer. So much nicer than I'd expected.

Has anyone gotten the baffling cube yet? How does it look? Is it amazing and wonderful?

Can anyone help on the urban legand? I Found the name of the Island but I cant find the code.

@Kaydence

You're looking for the fourth code, right? If you have the name of the island (E**), search just that name without the word "island". The code is in the first few results.

The Power Art pieces are among my favorites. Turning something unsightly into a work of art. Genius!

To answer my own question, the Rubik's cube is pretty cool. :)

I think sometimes we expect too many hints from other players. I think a minor hint when someone is really stuck is one thing, but to help on every single badge is another. Some players are more into things than others. Every player does not need to get every badge.

When I first saw the Disasters category, I was worried about that subject and reading about awful stuff. But, now that I've done all the badges in that category, I'll say that they were very interesting! They were all tragic, but it was very interesting to read about the investigation and learn why these tragedies happened. The molasses one was very unusual, and interesting, but too bad it was tragic.

I should have my picnic blanket waiting for me at the library soon, and I'm excited to have it! Still a few picnic weekends left, though summer went way too fast!
