Streets Quest #7: We're Only In It for the Money
by andrewjmac
This time around, Questers, your favorite game is all about money. It's still free to play, of course, but you're headed to a part of town that was once (and on some corners still is) devoted to moolah! I don't think you'll have any trouble with this one, though a few of the clues might trip you up a bit. And we're pretty heavy on the Glass Gazers this time around, so you're going to have to face the cold, hard snow and ice to learn about the cold, hard cash. At least there's a big reward in it for you: the satisfaction of a Quest well done. But no money. Sorry. Anyway:
Money, money, money, it makes the world go 'round,
They say that's the (other) golden rule.
Lots of banks and lots of shops on this panel are found,
And even a business-y school.

For GG, you can get the first
For GG, you can get the first two codes without going downtown. the third and after, well.... I'm trying to guess how the banks say swipe your card at the door to enter
Ok, I have the panel, but I
Ok, I have the panel, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the unlocking code is. Not the name of the panel, the "business-y school," the panel location. ??? I'm sure the riddle is clever, but it didn't exactly ask a question.
Okay, post and solve. You need a longer form of the name in question. I thought I'd tried them all, then I tried one more...
What's with this game?
What's with this game? Yesterday I spent an hour trying to enter a code I knew was right but kept getting it sent back. Today I enter the same code but with a space and it works.
Fine I think it's a spelling problem. Yet I'm stuck again on a simple question have found the right article i.e. $15 another etc. Enter all of the names several times and nothing.
Does punctuation matter and should I care about spacing my answers?
The last question, Am I wrong about the answer for the first Old newsmakers? Is it a name that is spelled two different ways in the article?
@mengland: just enter the
@mengland: just enter the first and last name of the person, no titles.
I am stuck on the 5th (last) clue of oldnewsmaker. I don't know where to find this information. Is it a photo or an article? I noticed two people have completed this badge. Can someone give me hint?
I wish I could help, rimpopu,
I wish I could help, rimpopu, but I'm stuck on old newsmakers #3. I don't even know what I'm missing. I just get lots of stuff about the funeral home. I've read lots of interesting things, but nothing is getting me closer.
@cherylo - that one was the
@cherylo - that one was the hardest for me. I can't even tell you how many articles/photos I went through before finding the right stuff. The funeral home is not where you want to be, for sure. You might try approaching the problem from the "store" or "block" angle, rather than trying to get there through the name. Good luck.
Unfortunately the name of the
Unfortunately the name of the block and streets get way too many hits. I was sure the funeral home was the wrong thing; that's why I mentioned it, in hope of saving others from similar blind alley agony. Tell me this: is the rhyme scheme of the riddle the same as the previous one? It might help me guess. It's a bit like You Don't Know Jack gibberish questions (in which the puzzler must identify a phrase that mostly-rhymes with the ridiculous one presented by the game). I'm out of other ideas for solving. I've spent more time on this than my Coursera course this week.
@cherylo: Yes, the rhyme
@cherylo: Yes, the rhyme scheme is the same, so your answer should rhyme with the last word of the second line. If you've been reading enough about that particular block, you may be able to guess after all. When I saw it at last , I thought, "of course!", because of the rhyme. Unfortunately, once I solve, I can't remember which search terms brought up the correct result.
I tried a little while, and still can't figure out how I got it. I did so much searching for this one. But. If you search on the name and the type of establishment associated with the name (not funeral), a photo will give you a good clue to the answer (you probably can figure it out from the photo). It's starting to bug me that I don't know how I did it.
BTW, I loved You Don't Know Jack and its "Slipper Fish Best One".
--edit: even just searching on the name brings up the right photo. Think rhyme and you'll find it!
I'm about to give #3 another
I'm about to give #3 another go, but I really am posting because I wanted to say...I play YDKJ on FB currently, and I believe they make versions of the game for some console games. I was a real nut for that game and for an online game called Acrophobia in the 90s.
Also, I have no idea what type of establishment we are talking about, so that suggestion is unfortunately a dead end for me. I can't seem to figure out what was at that location "by the XXXXs." At least, I don't know how to find it. So frustrated!
@cherylo: I so wish I could
@cherylo: I so wish I could figure out how I got ON#3! Sorry that I can't, I just know it took a long time. But. If you search Old News for the name (*just* the last name, mind you) and look for a photo, and keep the rhyme in mind (last word of 2nd line), you will see it. It's just that the photo doesn't confirm it is the location, though the "by the xxxxs" is confirmed when you look at the photo. I know this is not the photo I used to get the answer, so I'm not exactly sure how I did it!
With things like this, I always worry that there is some library search trick that I don't know. That if only I knew some nifty way to use the system, I'd find it quickly. Not sure this is the case here, but perhaps after SQ is completely over, maybe the AADL staff could publish how they found some of the trickier ones (or all of them, if they've already got the information)!
Ah...the fact that it's an
Ah...the fact that it's an imperfect rhyme, and that that last letter that belongs on the code makes the rhyme imperfect, is what threw me off. I kept entering codes without that final letter, though with and without a preceding article.
Sorry, I thought about the
Sorry, I thought about the "last letter" biz, imperfect rhyme as it was, but didn't say anything. Should have. Hooray that it's behind you now!
@rimpopu You'd think that
@rimpopu You'd think that only solving a couple days ago would mean I'd remember where I found it, but I had to do it again. You're looking for an article. If you have the correct search term (and it's in the riddle), the article is easy to find. Even the title lets you know it's the one you're looking for.
Good luck.
I'm still stumped on SQ5 glass gazing 2. I thought I had it, I was downtown and looking at the sign, but it didn't work. So I need to wait until I can get back downtown... sigh.

I was hoping to beat you to the punch, but I'm stuck in a "no extra time" mode for the next few weeks. Ah, well. Congrats on being the first!
@cherylo since you finished
@cherylo
since you finished this month's GG, can you help me on the 3rd code? I know it has something to do with swiping your card, but i need the exact phrase?
@Bookbird, yes, it's a longer
@Bookbird, yes, it's a longer expression you are looking for but you are on the right track. It's long enough (seven words) it will be awfully hard to guess.

Not that close, though of
Not that close, though of course you have the intent. It starts with a preposition. I'm sorry I'm so circumspect. It's pretty clear the gang designing the challenges want people to go to the spots, so I'm not entirely comfortable giving it away. sorry.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the street quest 7 quest unlocker code. I have found the pannel that the code comes from but I have tried every imanangable way to anwser it but I am hoping someone can help me with another clue to help me find where to look on the building I have been looking at or help me if I am looking at the wrong building. I hope someone can help me find the right code to help unlock the street quest.
Thanks so much

Hi @Lmd3577, the unlocker
Hi @Lmd3577, the unlocker code is there on the panel but it may be longer than you think. It is a 7 word phrase. I hope that helps. I also found that particular code troublesome.
Ah well, I'll never go as
Ah well, I'll never go as high on the list as cherylo, but at least I'm in the top ten......
So for the street quest 7

This one was so vague because
This one was so vague because the terminology of the riddle led you to try different phrases - incorrectly. The answer IS hidden in the text and I only found it by copy and pasting everything over and over and over again until something worked. Once it worked, I scratched my head and said, um, okay i kinda see it...but yeah it was vague.
