Streets Quest #6: Once More Round the Block

by andrewjmac

Well, Questers, it was bound to happen sometime. Downtown Ann Arbor is only so big, and this time we find ourselves headed back to someplace we've already been. Well, sort of. It's a whole new quest on a whole new panel, but this one is only steps away from one you may remember before. I'm sure you won't have too much trouble finding it. Of course, finding the right panel is never really the hard part, is it? We can see that by looking at the number of people who started the last Quest and comparing it to the number of people who finished it. But don't despair of them, you more experienced Questers! Look to our very first Quest, which 44 people have now finished. I admire those of you so hardcore as to brave the snow and cold to bring home the badges. Speaking of which, you probably came here for the newest Quest:

In a place that you’ve quested before,
Turn around to go questing once more:
This time begins
With the oldest of inns;
Name the place you’d stay in days of yore.

for online onlooker, second code. I know what the last two words mean (pompous person), but how to find them?
I don't understand what the last three lines in Oldnewsmaker code 2

I am almost done with the old news quest 2 badge and I hanging trouble on where to find the code for the fifth question where can I find where to go for the code. I am also still having trouble with finding the last two words for the glass looker quest 5 I think I know the first two words but I am having trouble with the last two I need one more clue and I think I have the whole answer. I hope you can help with these two questions.
Thanks so much

@Lmd3577: For quest 2 old news 5, you need to find a project named after (the full name of) the daughter. It has been a while since I did this quest but I think this newspaper clip from the mid 60's could help you. For quest 5 glass gazing 1, think of another way of saying inside the building or at the location...hmm..what else.
@Bookbird: For OO 2, ignore lines 3 & 4 and find something that would match the rest of the clue. For ON 2, perhaps it would help if you try to find the answer to the last line of the clue. Use the hints given in the rest of the clue.

Okay, I'm not sure why I'm stuck but I'm stuck on the 5th code of the online onlooker. Is anyone eles having problems with that one?
I have entered the two names many different ways but no luck. Is there another panel I should be looking at? A little help please.

yea I thought I had the right answer. Just like on the panel not different panel right? It's driving me crazy. I have tried so many different combos. one in front with and. without and with c.....s....without. !!!!!!

I am having trouble finding the code word for Street Quest #6 online looker answer #4 I have looked every where that I think the clue is pointing to but I think I am looking near but far so to speak so I need one more clue to help me out and then I think I will have it. I am also having trouble with the glass looker # 1 code word in street quest # 6 this one also has me stumped I have tried just about every combination and I have been getting the wrong answer so I also need one more clue to help me also on this one also. I hope you can help me with both of these clues.
Thanks so much

Lmd3577 - for SQ6, online onlooker answer 4 you want to examine photos of the place that has been the center of all the online onlooker clues in SQ6. One of the photos clearly states the answer on a sign. Good luck!

Think way back... I'm still stuck on Quest #5 Online Onlooker, 3rd clue. I still have a ways to go on all the Glass Gazings, but that's just because I've had no extra time downtown lately, but SQ5OO3 is bugging me. Is the answer findable on the Street Exhibit portion of the AADL site? I haven't found it yet, but I'll keep looking. Or is it findable on another area of AADL? Those who have it (and there are 16 of you), please answer. Thanks

@pk: SQ5OO is centered around this panel. Look closely above the boy's head. One letter looks like 'D', it is not. That should give fuel for thought.
@Lmd3577: For SQ6 GG#1, you need two words. First part, think of a word you can use in place of prohibited, forbidden, not allowed, etc. For instance: some books or movies are ------ in some countries. Now try the combinations.
Hope that helps.

@rimpopu - Thank you, thank you a thousand times thank you. I looked at that picture about a dozen times without realizing the D was not a D. Then I tried a number of different things I'd read about (but not the correct one, obviously). I thought I was missing a picture somewhere. Again, thank you! (and I still think it looks like a D)

meaning the early streetcar picture? its the only one i know of with a boy, and the letters don't look like D to me.
SQ6GG1, indeed all the GG since SQ4GG4 have been near impossible since I can't go downtown. I got a glimpse of a The Ride sign that appears to have Weekends Only written on it. could that be SQ4GG4? For SQ5GG1, I have no clue with anything finance-business related, so I really don't know what wouldn't be kept inside. @rimpopu, my completion of the sentence would be: some books or movies are not allowed in some countries.

Staff, I object to the " to brave the snow and cold to bring home the badges" part, as I would brave the snow and cold, but I can't even go due to being unable to transport myself to downtown and looking around without giving an un-refuse-able reason to my parents, and i can't think of anything they would accept.

@Bookbird: You are right about the clues getting more and more difficult to figure out without going to downtown. One or two in each GG that are like that. Let me see what I can do to help you get going a bit more. I am probably giving it away.
SQ4GG4: Four parts. A word followed by a two digit number and then two more words. You are got the last word right but for the one before that...think of the opposite, it is a singular answer. For the first two, find out which other bus makes a stop where you started this quest. Look both directions and across, one of them has the answer.
SQ5GG1: Four words. The name in the clue is just the beginning. Look closely at the building (google maps?). Hey! that business name starts with the same letters. What business do they do? One of the words in the clue tells you that. Before cards how did we pay for things (we still use it)? and they don't keep that there?!! Google images have similar signs but not the same. But it will help you figure this out.
SQ6GG1: Two words. I had written 'in place of' the words you have used meaning alternatives. For the first, think The Da Vinci Code and Lebanon. For the second, don't use the word 'things', use something else.

Back to SQ5. The Glass Gazing is very difficult, but I see three people have completed it. It's tough - and I am even able to get downtown on occasion to look. I'm stuck on GG #2. I see the sign. I type the characters I see on the sign. And it doesn't work. (and I even tried another version of the sign from another part of downtown - wonder which sign correctly states the law?)

Do I need to type out words that represent the symbols? Do I need to use only some of the letters/numbers I see? Questers who finished SQ5 Glass Gazing - can you answer this?

Also, I do feel for those who can't persuade parents to bring you downtown. How about them dropping you off at a worthy downtown Library program (there are many!) and then getting an extra half hour to run over to see the panels/areas around the panels? Maybe it's better if you can be with a friend? Are you allowed to take a bus downtown? Perhaps play up the "city history" angle. I would appreciate my children wanting to learn more about the city they call home, perhaps your parents will as well. Show all you have learned about Ann Arbor so far from SQ - it's actually pretty impressive.

And while I sympathize, remember that students get the advantage in the summer when students have more time off for summer game while others work full time jobs. There was a whole event worth boatloads of points that some couldn't get to because of work. Maybe not an equal trade, but there are advantages to each.

@pk: For SQ5GG2 you need both words and numbers. I don't remember the sign exactly I think it is the entire last line that starts with words and ends with some numbers. Leave abbrev as it is, ignore the colon and write all the numbers together.

Update on Bookbird's battle with Glass Glazing codes :)
SQ4GG: only one left! the parking hours can't be that hard to figure out....... it's just #pm-#am right?

SQ6GG: One left! I somehow got the last two codes by accident, so it's just the second code. i guessed it's the Michigan theater, or state theater, but no luck
