CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Summer is over! When did that happen? Well, it happened while you were madly earning badges, tagging items, making lists, earning tokens, attending events, and just having a TOTALLY AMAZING TIME all Summer long! And now we're at an end. Yes, Summer Game 2012 will end tonight, Friday August 31st, at Midnight. After that you can earn no more Summer Game 2012 points, other than through codes that come with items in the shop. The Summer Game Shop will close for the season on Monday, September 17th, so get your final orders in! Any points or tokens you have left will be spendable when the Summer Game Shop reopens next July! However, any shop orders not picked up by Monday, October 8th will be canceled and returned to inventory. But, we've still got ONE LAST GASP of Summer Game 2012 goodness here in the waning hours of summer, and it starts with a JAM-PACKED SECRET SHOP, with over 45 amazing items for you Secret Shop Token Holders! Here's a clue to help you find the secret shop hidden in the AADL Catalog:What you're looking for today is different and unique.

If you know what's going on at the Library, this should be a quick find! But that's not all our shop news; thanks to some last-minute haggling, we were able to restock some super-popular items one last time, including Umbrellas, Backpacks, both coffee sets, flashlights and more! But this time we really mean it; there will be no more restocking until the Summer Game Shop reopens next July! So act fast, these items won't last long! Now note that none of these final Summer Game Badges are new quests; these are all based on things you've either achieved so far, or you haven't; if you want to earn 'em, you've got a few hours left to do it before all the codes expire at Midnight tonight! (note: shop codes, or codes that come with items, don't expire until October 31st, so you've got plenty of time on those.)

I'm shocked at how quickly everything sold-out in the regular shop again. Tried for an umbrella, but couldn't get it. Still have a ton of points. I guess I'll have to be quicker next year.

I want to thank everyone at the library for a fantastic Summer Game! It really was "The Ultimate" - I looked forward to every Friday and the puzzles. So many of the parts of the game are so clever and very appreciated. The shop and secret shop are wonderful extras for us. You guys are great and I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!! I think I'll do Treasure Quest this year too!

As for everything else, YAAAAAAAAA you guys are crazy! 30 umbrellas sold in about 6 minutes. Coffee sets in less than 10. So, I couldn't get into my account to play at 6:00. But my awesome son, who has been playing with me all summer, bought me the items I wanted (that were available:) How sweet is that!?!

While I am disappointed that the items I was interested in (umbrella, art print, etc.) I was not able to get because they went out of stock between the time that i added them to cart and tried to check out, I truly appreciate the summer game staff. This game is a fantastic entertainment and education event, and I have enjoyed it very much. Congratulations on dealing with demanding and exacting fans of all ages while delivering fantastic content and programs.
Whew. That was a wild ride. Thanks, Eli, Erin, and crew for lots of fun. Some of us stay-at-home parental types really enjoy this kind of puzzling more than should be legal. And I'm doing a happy dance because I got the Houghton pics that we saw him draw at KRC. Wheeee! :)
yes thank Summer game staff. I laughed I cried I stayed up until 12:30 for the secret shop. Loved every minute of it.
Next year I'm going to stay in town for the Comic festival . Lost my place on the leaderboard with that event.
I feel like there should be a huge ceremony for eli and all of the Summer Game staff... Maybe we should get them all a gift or a card or something...

I completely agree with Morgsush, though i'm still not very happy with the out of stock. really staff, YOU SHOULD HAVE PREDICTED IT. There were soooooooooooooooooooo many more players, and more points for them to spend.

Thank you to everyone in the summer game team for putting together such a wonderful, entertaining, educational package. Loved it every bit. I completely agree with Juliettie. I enjoyed it as much as my kids :) My umbrella in the shopping cart never made it to checkout. No regrets. I got a lot more than what I was hoping for at the beginning of the summer. Can't wait for the next stage of the game to begin!

Yes! I just bought the best (in my opinion) and the most expensive item on the last secret shop! It was worth saving my points through the whole summer! Whoo... Now that's over with... Now I only have high school to look forward to. 4 more days peeps!

Thank you so much AADL staff! I probably won't be in Ann Arbor next summer to play the summer game, but I continue to promote the heck out of it while I'm still in town! It was so much fun & kept me entertained all summer.
One suggestion for next year might be that users aren't allowed to buy 10 umbrellas at a time, or 5 coffee sets at a time. I think that might help with the "onslaught". :)

@alumeng.ajl - Some of those might be staff. They didn't always announce when a badge was created and submitted by a staff member (that is a staff member outside the regular summer reading game team staff). Like I created the Sonic's World badge but as a staff member, they didn't specifically say that when they released it. :) So perhaps that accounts for some of it. :)
And YAY for having so many things in the secret shop! I was out at dinner with family and I've had a migraine all day so I didn't even think about it until now when I was thinking of putting in something that I watched and I was still able to get something. :) Yay! :)
Can't wait for whatever version of the Treasure Quest they have this year. So excited! I think even if I ever move from Ann Arbor, I'll still play, even if it means not turning in points for stuff! :) So much fun! :)

That being said, if you have absolutely no branch codes, I'm not giving you ALL of them. But if you need just a few, I'm willing to help if you find me on Facebook or something like that.

I don't have a facebook. now PLEASE someone help me with the barefoot, big score, or local color before it's too late! Barefoot: searched barefoot, but too many results. Bigscore: can't find the part. Local color: I was told to search purple rose and the hunter on old news, not working

@Bookbird - I think the Local color one is all on the "Observer: Then & Now" database. I found just searching the color itself brought up most stuff pretty easily.
The "barefoot" one is in a video. Not too hard to find if you narrow it down to video.
